Introduction

MoguMe ("we", "our", or "us") operates a restaurant-discovery mobile application ("App") that helps users find nearby dining options using a swipe-based interface. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that data.

By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App and discontinue use.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Location Data (GPS)

The App requests access to your device's precise location (foreground only) solely to search for restaurants near you via the Google Places API. Location data is transmitted directly to Google's servers as part of each API request and is not stored on our servers. We do not track your location history. Please note that Google may independently log API access for its own operational purposes. For details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.

1.2 Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored only on your device using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable cloud backup:

1.3 Account Data (Optional)

If you sign in with a Google or Apple account to enable cloud backup, we store your authentication token and associated account identifier via Firebase Authentication. We do not receive your password.

1.4 Advertising Data (Free Tier)

Free-tier users see ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (e.g., IDFA on iOS, Android Advertising ID), IP address, and interaction data to deliver and measure ads. On iOS 14.5+, we present Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt before AdMob collects any tracking-related identifiers. You may opt out at any time via your device privacy settings. Premium subscribers do not see ads.

2. Third-Party Services

3. How We Use Your Data

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

All locally stored data (saved restaurants, settings) is held on your device until you delete it. You can erase all local data at any time from Settings → Reset Data.

If you have enabled cloud backup, you can request deletion of your account and associated cloud data by contacting us at the address in Section 7. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

GDPR (EEA / UK residents)

Our legal basis for processing location data is performance of a contract (providing the core restaurant-discovery feature). Our legal basis for advertising is consent (ATT/TCF prompt).

CCPA (California residents)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 7. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (45 days for CCPA, 30 days for GDPR).

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Where changes are material, we will provide notice through the App or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
